Europe Bottom-Up | Platform Launch

Berlin’s Contribution to Europe – How the Bottom-Up Principle Succeeds

With the Europe Bottom-Up Platform, the Stiftung Zukunft Berlin provides a common digital platform that brings together all those bodies, organisations and initiatives that want to strengthen and advance Europe with the potential of culture and democracy, thus offering a tool for further exchange and cooperation.

In times of uncertainty and insecurity, our strength lies in our support networks and our European ties to each other. Only in this way can we live up to the concept of a Europe from below, in which citizens are empowered to help shape their Europe.

Because against the backdrop of the ongoing Russian attack on Ukraine, we have been made brutally aware since 24 February 2022 that peace and stability on the European continent cannot be taken for granted. The ongoing war is a direct attack on the values that are at the core of the European project: Democracy, human rights, freedom and the rule of law.

What contribution can the city of Berlin make? How does a bottom-up approach succeed? What are the impact powers and possible potentials to strengthen the commitment to Europe in and from Berlin?
